Macola has a robust set of reporting and functionality to bring all your data together in one screen.
“Is this screen a workspace or a dashboard? I’ve heard it referred to both ways, and then there’s SSRS reports…”
Without going too far into Macola’s depths, I’ll tell you there are two meanings for the word “Workspace” in Macola and the term “Dashboard” is not used.
The two meanings for the word Workspaces include:
- The screen you see when you log into Macola
- The series of SSRS (or aspx) reports with configurable menus found in the Workspaces module
To confuse things a tiny bit, you can have an SSRS workspace as your Workspace that you see when you log in.
Let me show you what I mean:
We’ll start with the screen you see when you log in.
This is your workspace.
Just as the name suggests, you start your day here and your commonly used functions are launched from here.
Any data that you need to monitor is also found here.
The workspace is composed of widgets that provide data or functions from the various modules within Macola.
One of those widgets allows you to link a report.
It’s this widget that enables you to display an SSRS report with (or without) configurable menus.
Whether you use the SSRS report with the configurable menu or simple buttons and link widgets to get to where you want to go, it’s all up to users and what they need to do their job every day.
You may find it efficient to use an SSRS workspace for areas that rely heavily on reports and data and go with simple buttons for high volume production workers that need simple and fast access.
If you come across a report that you’d like to modify or don’t find the type of report you’re looking for, we can help. We have several consultants who can develop SSRS reports or show you how it’s done.
